Our son asked us to completely redo his 1966 Aristocrat Travelier to bring it up to a more classic masculine and less cluttered cartoon look. Basically, he wanted the Vintage Turquoise and Orange look gone and replaced with a clean, fresh masculine look.
We went with a Navy and White color theme but not a nautical look. Instead, this vintage trailer is going to have a Scottish plaid theme.
The first thing to go were the Turquoise and Orange stripes. The quickest way to cover them up was spray paint. We would never recommend spray painting an entire Argosy or medium to large trailer. The cost would be insane! It took us five cans to cover the Turquoise and Orange stripes on this 11′ trailer with two coats.
Our small Vintage Trailer is kept under cover when we are not camping, otherwise, the spray paint would have chips all over it within six months. We use to spray paint the banana wraps of our Argosy and it always chipped.
Although, Spray Painting is a quick and easy short term fix, there are some steps to take when spray painting a Vintage Trailer. Prime, Tape, Multiple Coats, etc.
